Shameless plugs aside, lets get into what I LIKED and DISLIKED from the 11/4/22 (Taped 10/28/22) episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown for the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri!
LIKED: WAY BETTER THAN IT SHOULD BE
Smackdown opened with a NO DQ match between Liv Morgan and Sonya Deville. This match had no right to be as good as it was! It was physical, intense, and it made sense (which is something that hasn’t been happening with Liv in a while). Liv wins (which also made sense).
DISLIKED: A LOSER MOCKING SOMEONE FOR LOSING
Emma is getting interviewed when Xia Li of all people interrupt because she lost last week. Ummm…Xia Li ALWAYS LOSES. Emma decks her so that will set up a match between the two where Emma is 10000% winning.
LIKED: LA FINALLY HAVING HIS KNIGHT
LA Knight v. Ricochet was exactly what Knight needed. A cheap win while getting heel heat over a likable babyface. This is what they should have done with him from the start. Instead of turning babyface to get out of his old gimmick then turning back heel by…being himself? But yeah, right move here.
LIKED: FIGHTING YOUR DEMONS
Bray Wyatt is backstage saying it’s hard to talk about his feeling and he doesn’t like to get interrupted. Some random ass dude is in the background and Bray just GOES OFF on him about how he wants to smash his face in. Bray tells the guy to apologize. He can hear Mr. Howdy’s voice saying “It’s all your fault”. The random guy says sorry and Bray tells him to go away. I love that they are telling a story instead of hotshotting this thing.
LIKED: IT’S AN “UCEY” THING
The Bloodline are backstage talking about Crown Jewel. Jey Uso says that he is going to call out the Brawling Brutes. Sami doesn’t like that idea. Jey said that they were the tag champions before him and will be after him. Jey said that it’s not a Bloodline thing but an Uso thing. Jimmy agrees with Jey.
In the ring, the Usos talk about how they will beat the Brawling Brutes and will be the longest tag champs ever. That brings out the New Day who says that they want the Brutes to win. I mean, of course they do! But if they do beat the Brutes, they will be waiting next week. The Brutes attack the Usos from behind. They beat down the Usos with the New Day till Sami and Solo make the save. The Bloodline stand tall. The only downside to this segment is that it makes it very predictable that the Usos are winning at Crown Jewel. I didn’t think they were winning in the right place but this made it VERY CLEAR. Other than that, it makes the Bloodline look like a unit again.
DISLIKED: RONDA’S SHITTINESS IS RUBBING OFF ON SHAYNA
Shayna Baszler v. Natalya was AWFUL. It seemed like they were wrestling two different matches. It’s like if you are in the ring near Ronda you automatically lose your ability to have a decent and coherent wrestling match. Baszler wins but choking out Natty. Then she knees Natty in the face after the match to make her look like a “badass”. COOL.
LIKED: I’M NOT MAD, JUST DISAPPOINTED
MVP calls out Strowman by having him face FIVE GUYS (No, not the food chain Sleazy…you fat fuck!). Now, I’m getting excited because my dream might come true! CLEARANCE nWo!! But…it wasn’t. These guys were so random that they didn’t look like anyone! SOOOO DISAPPOINTED! Strowman runs through the Five Guys and attacks MVP. So now, its one-on-one at Crown Jewel.
LIKED: THRILLER
Gunther v. Rey Mysterio for the IC Title was absolutely great! They did a great job of making Rey look like his might win. In the end, Gunther gets a clean win.
I want to say that with this being a taped show AND a night before a PLE, this wasn’t a throwaway show by any means! It was a great episode of Smackdown!
