Shameless plugs aside, lets get into what LIKED and DISLIKED from the 11/11/22 episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana!
LIKED: RECORD BREAKING DONE RIGHT
Smackdown opens with The New Day challenging The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. This match was of course great. It was given a ton of time, around 30 minutes total. Tons of near falls for both teams. But the one aspect I truly loved for the fact that the Usos won CLEAN. No cheating or no outside interference. The beat the New Day 100%. So the Usos will be the longest reigning Tag Champs with “no asterisks” next to their name. GREAT STUFF
After the match, the Usos walk into the dressing room and get hugs from Roman Reigns. Roman says that is what being the greatest of all time feels like. He said that know that is done, they have to handle business in the ring.
In the closing segment, the Bloodline (minus Sami Zayn) comes out. Roman said it’s not easy being his cousin since everyone has to acknowledge his greatest. Before he can get any farther, The Brawling Brutes come out. They said that they are sick of the Bloodline and their numbers game and Sheamus returns! They hit the ring and that brings out Drew McIntyre! The show ends with them all brawling. This obviously sets up the Men’s Wargames match at Survivor Series. Not sure who the 5th member of the face team will be but my guess is Kevin Owens.
DISLIKED: NOT THE START OF THE WORLD CUP I WAS EXPECTING
There were two Smackdown World Cup matches and I wasn’t a fan of either of them. The first one was Santos Escobar v. Shinsuke Nakamara. Both these guys are super talented but I don’t know. I just couldn’t get into it. Escobar won due to the “Numbers Game”. The second one of Braun Strowman destroying Ginger Mahal (I’m glad I get to use that bit again). I was expecting more from these matches. I feel like Strowman is going to win and face Gunther.
LIKED: MY BUSINESS IS NOW YOUR BUSINESS
LA Knight is getting interviewed backstage. He sees the video glitch that shows Bray Wyatt’s symbol. Wyatt shows up and says that he can see the anger inside of Knight. Night told Bray to go back to his room and play with his puppets. Bray headbutts him. So we finally get Bray into a feud with someone. I’m glad it’s Knight. It should elevate him working with Bray.
DISLIKED: PUTTING SOMEONE OVER TO NERF THEM
The Six Pack Challenge for the #1 contender ship for the Smackdown Women’s Title was….not good. It was a clusterfuck of sloppy wrestling. This match should have been WAY BETTER. Sleazy’s Real Life Fake Daughter actually gets the win! However, after the match, Shotzi is talking to Emma backstage. Shotzi gets attacked by Shayna Baszler. So she gets laid out by Ronda Jr. instantly making Shotzi looks like a goober right after she won the match. How am I suppose to see her as a threat now?
LIKED: DEBUTING TEAMS REALLY HATE HIT ROW FOR SOME REASON
Zelina Vegas (mmmmm) v B-Fab never happens as the Viking Raiders show up and destroy not only Hit Row but Legedo Del Fantasma. It’s great to see the Raiders back. They are talented and will add some depth to the tag division.
Overall, it was an ok show for a house show. The Tag Title match was great.
